Who we are

Practical Support for Poultry and Multi-Species Processing

If you’re building or improving a processing facility, you don’t need more theory. You need real answers that work.

At NextBird Systems, we’ve been in your position. We designed, built, and now operate a USDA-inspected plant ourselves, so we know exactly what it takes to move from planning to production. We understand the pressure to meet regulations, manage workflow, and avoid costly mistakes.

That’s why everything we offer is built on lived experience. Our tools are practical. Our systems are proven. And our guidance is shaped by the real demands of day-to-day processing.

We work with farms, food entrepreneurs, and independent operators who need clarity and actionable support. Some clients come to us in the early planning stages with big ideas but no blueprint. Others are already inspected and looking for a better way to manage operations. No matter where you are starting, we help you move forward with a clear path and tools that fit your reality.

Why We Built This

When we began our own poultry processing journey, we found that support for small-scale facilities was limited. The regulations were complex, and it was hard to find answers that matched our size, budget, or workflow. Most of the available resources didn’t speak to the realities of operating a plant with a small team and a tight schedule.

We didn’t need theory. We needed guidance that made sense in real time, on the floor, and under inspection.

NextBird Systems was created to fill that gap. We provide clear direction, adaptable tools, and honest answers to the questions that actually matter. Every solution we offer is tested in real production environments and grounded in the kind of insight that only comes from doing the work firsthand.

Our Approach

We bring together regulatory knowledge, operational experience, and a background in systems leadership and education. That combination helps us design tools and workflows that are not only compliant but also teachable, repeatable, and resilient.

We don’t just hand over a binder and call it done. We help you create systems your team can understand, implement, and manage over time. Our goal is to support long-term success with tools that match your scale and grow with your needs.

What We Believe

  • Compliance should be understandable. Processors deserve guidance that is clear, practical, and applicable to their operation.

  • Small plants need purpose-built tools. Your solutions should fit your scale, not be adapted from models designed for industrial systems.

  • Every step should serve a purpose. We help you reduce wasted motion and focus on workflows that support safety, efficiency, and quality.

  • Clear conversation drives better outcomes. We speak directly, explain why things matter, and work alongside you to solve problems.

About our Founder

Matt Milliron is the founder of NextBird Systems and the architect behind the design, construction, and operation of a USDA-inspected poultry processing facility in Central Texas. He built the plant from the ground up and continues to operate within the realities of federal inspection, staffing constraints, and production variability.

His work is grounded in the reality that resilient regional food systems require accessible, well-run processing infrastructure. Drawing on his background as a solutions engineer and organizational technology leader, Matt advises processors on plant layout, workflow design, staffing structure, HACCP integration, and inspection readiness.

Recognizing gaps in existing software solutions, Matt designed and built NextBird OPS to address the operational and regulatory realities he encountered while operating a USDA-inspected facility. The system supports scheduling, traceability, documentation management, and production planning for inspected facilities.

Across consulting engagements and software development, his focus remains consistent: translate real production experience into practical, durable systems that strengthen processing infrastructure and give independent operators the operational confidence to grow.
